Everybody has had an experience of beeing anxious about something, for example giving a speech. Avoiding situations, that provoke anxiety, is not very helpful. Try to imagine, how it would look like, if we did not experience anxiety at all? Anxiety is a feeling, demanding our attention on something that is worth of it. Then the question is, why do we regard the feeling of anxiety so negatively? Anxiety becomes a problem if we are suffering from it and it dominates our life. A medical solution to non-medical problem is not an appropiate way of dealing with challanges related to anxiety. The problem lies in a definition of anxiety, beeing seen as an illness. The truth is that anxiety is an emotion and not an illness. Feeling it, listening and responding to it’s guidance positively is an alternative way of handling it. It is therefore important to accept anxiety as an universal human experience, seeing it as a friend or a guide, not an enemy.
